“Hey Siri, what’s the weather like this week?”
I half expect some well rehearsed sarcastic repartee from the oft-friendly digital assistant these days, but Siri, alas, doesn’t seem to share mother nature’s sense of humour. With snow in the forecast for tomorrow—and to my horror—next weekend, I would like to take the opportunity to prime VMUG’s weather alert system.
Last month we managed to hastily reach out to the membership at very short notice, and realized that we have a number of effective channels to communicate to the membership. Thank you to Terry for mobilizing so quickly.
If you have any doubts as to whether the General Meeting will be on due to an extraordinary snowfall, we will broadcast a cancellation alert on the listserv, enews letter, and website. Please check up to to two hours prior to the meeting.
Shifting our attention to matters of an Apple nature, we’re excited to be looking at the cloud note-taking landscape this month, along with a mini-presentation from Sarah Coll on educational technology.
Apple itself, seemingly going from strength to strength, is seeing its Apple Campus nearing completion within the next two months. The stunning spaceship shaped, circular building has been appropriately named “Apple Park”, seemingly in subtle reference to Xerox PARC and its contribution to Apple’s DNA.
We don’t know yet whether there will be any spring product announcements, but rumors around iPad and desktop refreshes are beginning to circulate.
As always, I look forward to seeing you all at the upcoming meeting. Bring your questions ready for the Q&A section of the meeting, and remember, if you need some one on one attention, you’ll always find myself and Terry in the back manning the Tech Table.
Aitan Roubini, President.
