Re: Exporting a music recording from iPhone to an iMac sound file

Any help on this, please? Thanks! There's a variety of options here. Some details on how the music recording was made (what app) on the iPhone and how big the resulting file is (if you don't know, how much time is the recording) would also be helpful. You could: 1. Email the file to yourself 2. Pla...

Re: iPad not synching to iMac

Thanks Charles - but why should I use iCloud - perhaps I do not wish to have anything in the Cloud. David Well, for starters, it would fix this problem. Secondly, you're confusing iCloud with other cloud-based services. Go have a read of Apple's privacy policy regarding information stored in iCloud...

Re: iPad not synching to iMac

You should be using iCloud to sync calendar and contacts, but I’m not sure why your devices aren’t seeing each other. Old version of iTunes, old version of macOS or iOS?

Re: What is InkServer?

I think I’ve cracked the answer to this. The date of 2012 tickled a bit of my brain about an Apple technology called Inkwell, that I once did a demo of. It allowed graphics tablets and their styli to “read” handwriting. I suspect InkServer is part of that. I’d presume that Apple has deprecated it, s...

Re: Where are iMovie projects stored?

Essentially, Apple has reverted to a database-like format within a package rather than out in the open — presumably to stop people from messing about with the files and ruining their projects. Consequently, although I know you don’t need to be told this, be extremely careful about moving or changing...

Re: Where are iMovie projects stored?

The answer was surprisingly hard to track down! I knew generally where they were, but here’s the full answer:

Re: Ghost Image on Screen

I noticed a few days ago a random ghost image on the screen - see screen shot attached. Normally, I just put the unit to Sleep when not using and every few days do a hard shut down. The screenshot of course doesn't show the ghosting because it is likely to be some kind of screen burn-in. You'll nee...

Re: Forwarding an email fails to go

I wasn't familiar with redirect and had to go looking to find it in Mail. How does it differ from forwarding an email? Forwarding an email shows the recipient that it has been forwarded (the original message is all on the "quoted" level, etc. Redirect re-sends the email as though it had n...

Re: iMac graphics card

Has anyone replaced a graphics card in a 2011 iMac 27" with a non-Apple one? Cheers, Michael This is not an operation for the feint of heart. I found this discussion on the topic: https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/296157/What+GPU%27s+are+compatible+with+iMac+27%22+2011 But as you'll see, thi...
