As most people here would know, getting the best photograph possible requires some knowledge about exposure, aperture (how wide the shutter opens), and shutter speed (how long it is open). In cases where light is good and motion is not really an issue, the “auto” setting on your camera or smartphone will likely do an adequate job, and is certainly better than nothing.
But for truly great pictures, you need a full-body camera (a DSLR is preferred) and the knowledge to use it. Sometimes this can be daunting, but this new interactive graphic makes it easy to grasp the fundamental concepts, and figure out how each of the aforementioned elements work together to help you get exactly the image you wanted:
