Android file transfer

What is the best way to transfer images and videos from a Samsung phone to a Mac? I once used Android File Transfer (the little green man) successfully but today when the window opens, there are no files listed under the Pictures and Videos headings - just little dashes where there would be "last modified" dates and sizes. Some are too large to email I am sure, if I was even confident about how to do that. I do not have a data plan but can use WIFI. Bruce Whittington.

Another option is to use an intermediary service like Mega, Dropbox, et al.
