Apple ID on an iPhone

I just got a newish iPhone for my wife and thought it would be simplest to leave the Apple ID as mine, which has worked fine for us in the past. However, I decided to create an account for her, but now want to disassociate the new iPhone from my iCloud account and get my name off the apple id in settings. Is there any way to do this short of resetting the whole thing. It's handy having all the contacts already there, since there's so much overlap.

Short answer: no.

Longer answer: a person can have two iCloud accounts: one for syncing stuff, and a different one for iTunes purchases. But you can't pick and choose which services are using one and which ones use the other when it comes to syncing things.

You might want to look into Family Sharing in iCloud so you can share purchases, photos, calendar and iCloud sharing.
