I now listen to TechTalk via the Apple Podcast app on either my iPhone or iPad. Recently I have noticed that if I stop playing on one device and continue on the other later on, it does not continue at the same place (normally back to the start). I am sure it used to do that “correctly” previously. Has anyone else noticed? I am logged on with same iCloud/iTunes etc credentials on both machines. TIA.

I have a different problem with TechTalk on the Apple Podcast app. Even though I follow that podcast it never shows the latest episode. I have to enter "TechTalk with Alan Perry" in the search field and then it finds it. Other podcasts I follow just populate normally. I have tried unfollowing and then following again but it hasn't helped. I listen on my iMac so am not sure how the syncing to my only other device (iPhone) works.

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Go to Settings > Podcasts, then make sure Sync Library is turned on. Do this for both devices.

I just tested this on my iPhone and iPad. Played a short portion of an episode on the iPhone, paused it, waited a few minutes, checked the iPad, and I could resume from the pause point.

You may need to refresh the listings by pulling down on the list of episodes for (as an example) Tech Talk.

Also, make sure you have Sync Library turned in the Podcasts app on your iMac. In the Podcasts app, choose Podcasts > Preferences > General, then make sure Sync Library is selected.

Thanks Chas, I do have Podcasts > Preferences > General "Sync Library" selected. In the Podcast app itself, I normally have "Listen Now" selected in the sidebar and any of the other podcasts I follow show up there when there is a new episode. i have them all set so once I have listened to an episode it is removed so I no longer see that podcast listed until a new episode arrives. I have "Tech Talk with Alan Perry" configured the same way but a new episode never shows up by itself.

Not sure why that is, the new episodes show up for me (but to be fair I only check about 48 hours after the show has aired).

Speaking of, there’s a promo for our VMUG General meeting a little after the halfway point in the show this week!
