In 2006 Jacob Gorban founded Apparent Software with a mission to create
useful, friendly, and unique software for Apple devices. And, he wanted to make
sure that the company’s software was complemented by first-class customer

A few weeks ago Apple announced that its global facilities are powered with
100 percent clean energy, including its retail stores, offices, data centers
and co-located facilities in 43 countries — including the United States, the
United Kingdom, China, and India.
You may think that you are aware of the many innovative products that come
from Apple research, but did you know that Apple invented disassembly robot
Liam in 2016 and Liam's replacement, Daisy, in 2018? Daisy can take apart up
to 200 iPhone devices per hour, removing and sorting components, so that Apple
can recover materials that traditional recyclers cannot. She can recover over
1900 kg of aluminum, 1.3 kg Gold, 7 kg silver, 24 kg rare earth elements, 3.5
kg tungsten, 800 kg copper, 0.4 kg platinum group metals, 55 kg tin, 550 kg
cobalt, and 2.5 kg tantalum from every 100,000 iPhone 6 devices that Apple
recycles. Through Apple GiveBack, customers are able to turn in their devices
at any Apple Store or through apple.com to be recycled or traded in.

Photography is a popular subject at many Apple User Group meetings. Did you
know that Apple has an entire section dedicated to helping users take great
photos with their iPhones? Each video tutorial is under a minute and a series
of 6-7 videos with discussion between could make for a great “How To” meeting
topic. Ever wanted to shoot a vertical Pano or a a sunset silhouette? There’s
even a tutorial for bouncing live photos and another for experimenting in
color. In fact, there are over 26 interesting techniques that are fun to learn
and even more fun to use.

Looking for a short presentation for your group? In the last 2 months, Apple has
introduced a new 9.7-inch iPad, major updates to iWork, and new colors and
styles for Apple accessories. The good news is that ASW has an entire section
dedicated to iPads (L503112A-en_US), including iPad – First Look
(L575790A-en_US ) and iPad – Then and Now (L575791A-en_US). ASW also has a
section covering the newest version of iWork (iWork on ASW: L540974A-en_US).
