Blank email only on iCloud mail

A strange one today. We are planning a trip and booking hotels online. One sent a confirmation to my mac.com email address and it was normal. The second hotel (a different chain) sent a confirmation to my mac.com email address and only the subject line was present. The body was totally blank. I phoned their support and the guy sent a total of 3 more emails to that address and all were blank. He asked for another email address to try and I gave him my icloud.com variant (actually the same email account) and that arrived blank. So I gave him an outlook.com email address I have. He sent it to that address and when I log into outlook.com to view it, the proper confirmation info is all there. But I have my outlook.com emails all forwarded to my icloud email and when it arrived there it was blank again. I can't think of what could cause such a thing - it's not like a rule is redirecting an email to a junk folder or trash. It still arrives but the body is blank. Any ideas out there?

Some confirmations are sent as graphics/html rather than text. If you have "block all remote content" turned on, that would show up as nothing.

Outlook may not have such a feature.

If you run into the problem again, ask them to send you a test email that is plain text -- just "hello" or something like that. If that goes through, than I have probably guessed the issue correctly.

Thanks Chas, Is this the setting you are referring to?

As you can see, I don't have the lower box checked.

Yes, that's what I was referring to. Try turning that off temporarily and see if the "blank" emails now have content when you open them.

Thanks Chas, I just tried that and the blank emails remain blank when I open them. Perhaps if I received another (potentially) blank email with that turned off it would make a difference but then how would I know? And as it was a one time occurrence (i.e. multiple blank emails from the same source all in one night) I think I will stop worrying about it.
