Does anyone use Quickbooks?

I've just become Treasurer for a non-profit. Their books are in Quickbooks on a PC. Does anyone have any experience using it on a Mac? Does it work well. How well do files transfer to and from a PC?

I don't have any experience with QB, but I've been told that the files will read in just fine if -- IF -- they don't take advantage of any of the features the Mac version lacks.

The best Mac QB experience, I am told, is to run Windows QB in "coherence" mode under Parallels so that it can just sit on your Dock and open in a virtual environment almost as though it was a Mac app.

Thanks Charles. I'll likely go with using Parallels

This does not answer the question you asked, but it may help at some point. I use MoneyWorks Cashbook, which is free. I started with it with a paid version, which I did not need in the end - Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, etc. (If you need more capability, you can pay for a more powerful version). We used it also on my wife's PC for her business and as far as I can recall, we have been able to read files across both systems. It is a New Zealand product, so fully capable of GST, HST etc. Early on, they provided my wife's accountant with a free version so she could work with the files - don't know if that still holds. I think they have the data transfer thing figured out, but you would have to confirm that - I haven't had to change in ten or fifteen years. I know it's a hassle to change, but this is much better than my admittedly years-ago experience with Quickbooks.

Thanks for the suggestion Bruce, but the organization has years of history with Quickbooks and is not interested in changing.
