Flagged messages in Mail

2021 iMac 24" M1 running 12.5.1 Monterey.
Anyone else having issues with the number of messages shown in the closed folder (mine says 18) actually holding less? In my case the correct number of 10 as listed when you open the folder?

If you have “group by conversation” turned on, you may actually have more than the 10 listed emails in that folder, since the grouping will include replies.

Thanks for your wisdom again!! Yes I do have "group by conversation" turned on for some mailboxes for sure. That would certainly account for this discrepancy. Am I correct in thinking that this option is specific to mailboxes one selects it for, or is that a "Global" selection for all mailboxes?
