How to set up a second iPhone SE on Find Me with Mac Book

I recently gave my wife my SE 2020 which I replaced with a SE 2022. The Find Me works fine for the 2022 but it cannot locate Joy's phone. I've gone to her settings on the phone and turned on Find Me but when I turn on Find Me it does not appear on my MacBook. Obviously I need to tell the MacBook to look for her phone but can't see where that takes place. As a new iPhone and cel phone user she is not used to keeping track of her phone yet and it gets lost from time to time. Our simple solution is to have me call her phone and turn over all the cushions! Now she has her own Apple ID and maybe that's the problem. I'm stumped. Any suggestion gratefully accepted. David

On your wife's SE when you go into Settings > (her name at the top) > Find My is the "Share My Location" switch turned on (green)?

I believe you (as a different person) would need to have this turned on so that you can see her location on your device. (She should be able to see her own location in the Find My app but for you to see it would be a privacy violation without her giving permission).

Yes, the Share my Location is turned on. The problem is, I think, that the MacBook does not recognize her phone. When I go into Find My it lists all the Apple devices in the house with the exception of her phone. When it was my phone it was recognized by Find Me. I'm going to sign into her iCloud account and see if there is something there I can turn on. But that's just a guess. I seem to have done everything correctly with her phone. The Find My iPhone is turned on as well as Share my Location. It should work but doesn't. Dave

An update. I signed on to my wife's iCloud account and clicked on Find My in iCloud and it worked fine. I guess I have to be signed into her iCloud account in order for it to work. Of course the easier process is to simply call her phone and listen for the ring tone..

I'll close this discussion now. Thanks David

Her iPhone has to be sharing its location for Find My to work, so check that.
First thing I checked and sharing its location was turned on. It works fine when I sign into her iCloud account but I need to be signed into her account. No problem. It would be just simpler if I could just use my iPhone or MacBook "find me" to locate her phone. But neither my iPhone or MacBook recognize or list her phone. I've set up two-factor authorization on her iCloud account and wonder if I can't locate her phone will I not be able to sign in (Catch-22). I'll test that situation before it really happens.

I'm going to close this discussion for now. I'll do some more investigation. I was hoping there was a simple explanation or a switch to turn on.

Thanks, and I appreciate your reply Chas.

Cheers, David
