I have an iPod Touch and an iMac. I tend to ignore Keychain as I use 1Password for passwords I need to fill in on a daily basis. On my Touch I have Settings > iCloud > Keychain turned off.
My wife has an iPhone 6s and a MacBook Air. On her iPhone she has Settings > iCloud > Keychain turned off.
Some time ago she received a Message (i.e. via Messages App) that stated: "Your iCloud Keychain verification code is: ------"
(i.e. they furnished a 6 digit numerical code). The sender showed up as a 5 digit code in the format NNN-NN
I have never see such a message on my Touch, wonder if it is legitimate or some sort of spam thing just to be deleted. And if legitimate, what is this verification code and when / where would it be used?
