In Mac Mail the 'sort by' drop-down list is gone?

I recently moved from my old MacBook Pro to a newer M1 Mac mini, running the newest OS software. Is there any fix for the sort-by drop down menu item that has disappeared from Mac Mail? It used to be at the top of the inbox mail column...seems strange to lose functionality... I used it all the time...???

I am running iMac M1 Sequoia 15.1.1 and Mail 16.0. Under view the drop down menu to "sort by" is alive and well. Can only suggest a re-start if you have not done recently and also run Malwarebytes Scan to confirm you have a clean OS. Only other. question that comes to mind is did you use migration assistant to move over everything from your old MacBook Pro to the newer Mi Mac mini? If you parting company with the old MacBook Pro can you let me know. Need to replace a trackpad on an old one. Thanks, Colin

HI Colin, sorry for this late reply. I think my notifications aren't working. The drop-down menu I was referring to was always visible, at the top of the mail column, wasn't under the view menu... also an advantage of the feature was that it always indicated the current sort order of your mail, without having to click into a menu... I did not use migration assistant as I wanted a fresh install of the things I use. I even bought a few items of software to upgrade to the latest version. (e.g. Affinity). Anyway I'm keeping the old MacBook for trips to the cabin in summertime. Thanks, Cheers.

Just to confirm, under macOS Sequoia the place to change the sort order of messages in Mail is indeed the View menu. If you're getting your mail via a web browser (like you might if using Shaw's soon-to-be-gone webmail service, or Google's Gmail site), then of course that doesn't apply.

Got it, this is the one you mean and yes it did, unfortunately, get removed in one of the previous updates.
I have never found any location to turn in back on.
Suspect it was a code change removal and not an option for showing or not showing.
(I looked back into mail on one of my "collectible computers, 2014 Mac Mini" running 10.14 OS Mojave, for the screen shot)

In the current version of Mac mail, the sorting submenu is now located under the "View" menubar item (a logical place for it, really not that the old location wasn't).
