Installing native apps for silicon mac

My wife has recently received her M2 MacBook Air. Some of her older apps (like Intaglio) might never run on it, and others may run under Rosetta while it is offered. But we are having trouble with apps that claim to work natively with silicon Macs. For example, downloading the latest versions of Zoom and VLC with send up the dialog that she needs to install Rosetta, when she tries to launch them. Any sage advice out there?

Further to this, I just received a response from Zoom support saying this is normal - you need to run Rosetta so that It translates the Zoom App for use with Apple silicon. That doesn't sound like true native support to me, if you still need Rosetta to get it going.

And even further to this, by digging around on the Zoom website I did manage to find a Universal version of the Zoom app that installed without resorting to Rosetta, while Zoom support kept sending me emails with useless info and finally taking credit to the resolution of the issue.

Still hoping to find an Universal or native version of VLC, at least one of which is claimed to exist.

MacUpdate.com is a good resource for this.

But you needn’t worry about trying to avoid apps that use Rosetta (2). We’ve got at least another year before that’s retired.

Yes, but developers have had over a year to make their apps play nicely with Apple silicon so if they haven't done so by now, what are the chances they will in another year? And I am getting frustrated by web sites that claim an app "works with Apple silicon" SUGGESTING they are universal or native apps when if fact they just mean they are old Intel apps that they say will work if you use Rosetta. Even my Epson EcoTanks seems to want to use Rosetta if you want to use their scanning software. But I know how well Rosetta worked on my 2006 iMac as I moved forward from my desktop G3 so I shouldn't fear Rosetta 2 I guess.
