iPhone Altitude Display?

My wife has a new iPhone 6s so it provides a great new learning experience for both of us. So the question of the day concerns the GPS. Is there a way (in Maps I would guess) to display the altitude at your present location? I know the 6s also has a barometer sensor built in and I would assume that would contribute to its value for altitude, but I haven't yet discovered how to display such a reading.

My searches online suggest using a third party altitude app but is that really needed, and if so is there a recommended one to get?

I did a search in the App Store and there is an app called "My Altitude" that looks good and it's free.

Thanks Terry,

This one looks good. The trick is to make sure an altitude app makes use of the barometric sensor in the 6 or 6s as well as just the GPS positioning (which is never as good vertically as it is horizontally).
