I am having a new problem that is driving me crazy. The keyboard is so touchy it is making multiple repeat letters. I have gone into Sys Pref and in keyboard put the Key Repeat all the way to the slowest and the Delay to Long. Still it is repeating. In Mail, Messages, Paages. Look even here. The aaaaa is especially misbehaving. and the iiiii. anyone have a fix? After changing the settings I restarted to no avail.
Thanks
Teri

How old is the MacBook Air? My wife developed troubles with a few keys on her MacBook Pro while it was still under warranty. She took it to Simply Computing and the tech there popped out the individual keys and replaced them right in front of us and we walked away with wallets intact. Not sure if the keyboard in your Air can be handled the same way (individually replaceable keys) but if it is under warranty still it might pay to take it to your favourite Mac authorized repair shop in town.

Thanks Dave. I bought new, November 2018 MAcBook Air. No more warranty. To me it’s only three years old I never had problem with keys going like this before. And wouldn't have thought it was mechanical. They’re sure not making them like they used to I guess. Thanks for the tip.

Check with your preferred Apple Authorised Service Provider, the super-flat (aka “butterfly”) keyboards have a special program for extended repairs, even out of warranty. Worth checking into.

Thanks Chas. I think I may have just fixed it myself. I gently vacuumed the keyboard and it seems that was the problem. Dust!!
I have to remember to close the lid more often.
