locking a number file for privacy

Has anyone tried to lock a Number file? I recently downloaded all my contacts from Shaw to a Numbers file. I'd like to prevent them from being seen by anyone but when I tried to lock the file it say's " Locking a spreadsheet isn’t the same as protecting it with a password—anyone can unlock the spreadsheet". Is there anyway of looking a file with a. password as I've been able to do with my Notes files? Cheers, David .

Open the document in Numbers. Go to the File menu and go down to "Set Password..." You will be asked to choose a password and you will need to enter it twice. You can also choose to save this in your keychain if desired. The save the document and next time you try to open it, you should be prompted for the password. If you decide to get rid of the password at some future date open the document in Numbers again. (you will need to enter that password one more time) and this time when you go the the File menu it will now say "Change Password..." rather than "Set Password..." Enter the password when prompted here and at the bottom is a button to "Remove Password". Save the document once again and the password should be gone next time you go to open it.

Thanks Dave,
Couldn't be any simpler! I never noticed the "Set Password" option. I thought it would be similar to my notes "locked" file option. The password is now set and I feel more secure. I'd hate to be responsible for people getting junk or scam emails because I did not secure my files.
Cheers, David
