Looking for Snow Leopard Install DVD for mid 2011 27" iMac (10.6.6 or higher)

I am looking for the original installation DVD, as I would like to install Snow Leopard on this iMac in order to access PowerPC applications that are supported via Rosetta.
I have tried to install from a 10.6.0 DVD, but unfortunately that does not work, as the minimum required is 10.6.6.
With thanks,
Michael

I have an original boxed as purchased of Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.3. This was shipped as a package purchased separate from a computer. I do not think a purchased package like this ever came as 10.6.6 which was an update issued later by Apple.

Having said all this, I will look in my Archives as I should still have the Original Apple disks shipped with my old 27" iMac and as I remember it should be Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.4 if memory serves me correctly. Cannot confirm this version number until I manage to locate this little package that shipped with the iMac.

Thank you for your reply Cougurr. I don't want to waste your time, as I don't believe that the computer would let me install 10.6.4. I get the following message when I try with 10.6:
You can't use this version of the application "Install Mac OS X" with this version of macOS. You have "Install Mac OS X" 23.1.

Michael, based on this message you quoted I think we need to hear from Chas or another more qualified member than I to sort out what that Mac OS X message number is all about. Have you tried looking up this message on the internet?...Colin

Thank you Colin. Thanks for the suggestion about Chas. I'll look up the message and play with it this weekend.

What is the current OS on your iMac? Perhaps your iMac wasn't supported past Leopard. My understanding is that if you can't upgrade to a particular OS then it doesn't matter which version of that OS you try the results would be the same. Have you tried installing Leopard?

More information about “this iMac” is needed, but in short:

If the iMac you’re talking about came out after Snow Leopard was the shipping operating system, you can’t install it even if you have the correct discs.
All Macs can only support the OS version they shipped with, and newer.

Thank you for your suggestion. My current OS (and latest possible) is High Sierra. I am trying to downgrade to a Snow Leopard, which was the original OS on this model series, although I am beginning to think that my particular one came with Lion (10.7). Leopard will not run period. This iMac is strictly for play, but I thought I check.

Hi Chas. Thank you for taking the time to reply.
I am beginning to think my specific iMac (27" mid 2011, iMac 12.2) came with Lion, even thought this series originally came with Snow Leopard (10.6.6). This computer is strictly for s...s and giggles, so I just thought if I could, I would, but not a big deal. I have found an archive of an 10.6.7 which I burned to a DVD and it will not install, so I think it is time to just let it be.
