I have put this here because it applies to both macOS and iOS so I didn't want to confine it to either of the separate spots.
On my iPhone 15 Pro on 26.3.1, I received a notification that 26.3.1 (a), a "Background Security Improvement" update had already been installed. On my wife's iPhone 16 Pro on 26.3.1 she wasn't offered that update. (We have identical settings to do security updates automatically). On my M2 Mac Mini I saw a notification that the update would be done "tonight" but that night it wasn't done automatically. I went the usual route of going to System Settings > General > Software Update but it told me my software was up to date. On my wife's M2 MacBook Air she received no similar notification that the update would be done anytime. I then went looking on the internet and found that this update can be done in a completely different way from "normal" updates: System Settings > Privacy & Security > Background Security Improvements I have forced it from there, to perform this update now on my Mac Mini and on my wife's iPhone. Still have to do her MacBook Air. For an update that is "recommended for all users" Apple sure hid this one and made the update experience confusing.
