MAIL loses messages with Ventura.

When you say "losing" do you mean they are there for a time and then later just vanish or do you mean, emails you expect to receive never show up? A particular email account or all (if you have Mail set up for more than one email account.) From a particular sender or random senders?
Are any other devices involved (were deleting them there makes them disappear from the MCB?) Do you have any rules that might be removing them? (Mail > Settings... > Rules)
Any one else in the family sharing the computer and the same user account? (a terrible idea).

Dave, thank you for answering. "Losing" as in it makes the "whoosh" sound and departs.
We may have hit a button inadvertently, but not certain. Whatever has happened, seems permanent until we find the button to remove this constraint. Now it continues, so the current workaround is to move the email to the Trash and save it there so as to not completely lose it.

The "whoosh" sound suggests that particular piece of email is being sent off somewhere. You might look in all the other mailboxes (eg. "sent", "junk" etc. ) to see if you can find it. You might also want to look in the Mail settings under the "Accounts" tab and then "Mailbox Behaviours" to make sure the settings there make sense.
