New Password App & old Password/Keychain Mix & Match?

Since my iPhone 15 is the newest Apple device I own, it downloaded iOS 18.1.1 and now is constantly nagging me to install it. Although I want to update it I am uncertain what would happen as far as keeping all my passwords synced with my iPad & MacBook Pro that can't be upgraded to the OS or iPad OS that adds the new Password App? Would I need to manually update them separately incase I created a new account or changed an existing one via my iPhone 15 or vice versa? ... Just to note that it's not possible to upgrade both the laptop and the iPad at this time.
Thanks in advance for any information someone can provide me on this.

BeeGee,
I talked with Chas on the Novice meeting and he explained that everything will sync with each other just fine as always. So am glad no manual fiddling required!

Just a thought, if u updated the phone, it keeps the passwords in an app, it’s like taking your information out of the settings and have a special place for them. I have a iPhone 16 and I still go back to my iPhone 11 Pro, (not enough space to update) all my passwords are there as before in settings. I think if ur on the cloud everything would sync up.

Whether you have the Passwords app (which arrived with iOS 18) on your phone or not, your passwords are still stored in the system keychain, and syncs with the system keychain on your other Apple devices (assuming you are using iCloud to sync).

The Passwords app is just a (way) friendlier “face” for the information stored in Keychain.
