Hey Everyone hope all is well with you. Got a problem with my iphone 12, yesterday morning it started out of the blue, when a call comes in, I get no sound from the speaker at the top, it's just dead, I can hear the person if I switch it to speaker. I tried all sorts of things on youtube to no avail...Took it to a shop, he said probably the speaker needs to be replaced, so ok, then I go to get it and he was unable to make it work though he told me he tried 3 different speakers in it. Said probably a connection? Probably? why not look and see? Anyway he charged me $60 and it's still doing the same thing. Could there be something as simple as a button that got changed? I'm not going to buy a new one, I can just use it with the speaker, but I'll have to keep it low volume so I don't blow my head up. Thanks all in advance. Donna

Try taking it to an Apple-authorized repair place like London Drugs. They can both correctly identify the problem and order any parts/repair any connections that need to be fixed or replaced. They'll also let you know before they do it how much it will cost so you can decide if it's worth it to you.

In the meantime, I'd suggest earbud headphones or AirPods as an interim measure. You can listen to music or audiobooks when there are no calls, and the AirPods Pro automatically lower the music when you are speaking or someone is speaking to you (a really great feature). And of course they're terrific for phone calls.

(I hate it when people blast their call on their speaker in public, I don't want to listen in on anyone's conversation, particularly in a tight space like a bus or elevator)

Hi Charles: Always a pleasure. I thought BA was an-authorized shop actually but maybe they just do simple stuff? Anyway thanks for the info, I will drop it off to LD Colwood (still you?) Oh I agree, that's why I have turned it way down so that it is pretty much not "hearable" to anyone but me. Thanks again Donna

If you mean BlackApple, I’m not sure if they are AASP or not, but I kind of doubt it. My job involves all four of the Victoria-area London Drugs stores, and they all have certified techs.
