Old backups?

Morning All: I am getting a new 12 in the next couple days but want to make sure that I am not filling it up with unneeded/old stuff when I hook it up to the mac. So, while browsing to see what I could delete on the mac I found the backups window that had several old phones now gone on it. I can delete these right? The most recent backup from the current 8 will remain? And also anything I delete from the mac deletes from the cloud too? If I read it right there is not much room anymore (200GB) but the family sharing looks to be the culprit, maybe all these old backups.

One more thing-anyone had experience with Shaw mobile? Thinking of switching from Rogers, I am a light user of the phone in the big scheme of things and we have a Shaw landline and the Internet so we can bundle it up perhaps and save a bit of money.

Thanks Donna

We closed our shaw landline, continued with internet and tv, then added Shaw mobility. Essentially no extra charge, except for data we bought $10 data which doesn’t expire for 3 months. Since we aren’t travelling much due to CoViD I can’t comment on how well it works in other parts of BC or Canada, as well not using much data now. When we travel more will probably be buying data more frequently.
Cheers,

You can delete any backups associated with phones you no longer have, yes.

Im confused about what you mean about deleting things on the Mac. This would have no effect whatsoever on the iPhone. if you are referring to the synced things you have in iCloud — photos and videos in particular — yes deleting those from iCloud would remove them from all synced devices.

As for Shaw Mobile, I’m on it now and enjoying it so far. It saved me nearly $150 a month!
