I’m very wary of any kind of auto-running software, especially on Windows machines, but the Photostick is a legit (if wildly overpriced) product. It scans your computer for image files and copies them onto the stick, creating a backup.
The main advantage is that it’s nearly automatic: plug the stick in, press go, wait, then eject the stick when it’s done.
The main issue people have is that it copies EVERY image it finds, which is sometimes unwanted (or exceeds the capacity of the stick).
