Podcast App not presenting new episodes

I am on macOS 12.4 on my 2017 iMac. It seems ever since I last updated to this version my Podcast App isn't presenting new episodes of the podcasts I follow even when they are available. If I search for the same podcasts I have been "following" for years, I find new episodes, but otherwise I wouldn't get them. I have tried "unfollowing" some of these podcasts, searching for them, and then "following" them again, but only time will tell if that will return normal behaviour again. Has anyone else experienced this? Yes, I know, there are several other podcast apps out there that are reported to be better than Apple's but I like to stick to the Apple choice whenever possible.

I’m not experiencing that problem on my Mac’s Podcasts app. Try deleting the app’s preference file and then re-launching it.

Wow, I had forgotten about those plist files. I did as you suggested, launched the Podcasts app and it immediately populated itself with unheard episodes of the podcasts I follow. Thanks so much for the lesson.

Take the following with a grain of salt. My knowledge on this subject may be outdated or incomplete:

In my case, I clicked on the desktop, went up to the "Go" item in the menu bar and pulled down in the resulting sub menu to "Library". If you don't see "Library" listed there, hold down the "Option" key while heading to the "Go" item in the menu bar, which I believe should then show your user Library.

Once you are in your Library look for the "Preferences" folder . For Apple apps, the file in question is in the form of "com.apple.(app name).plist.
My understanding was that once you deleted such a plist file, the next time you opened that app it would regenerate the plist file (without the issues that caused you to delete it initially). In the case of the Podcast app plist file, once I deleted it, the problem went away but now that I have re-opened the Podcast app, it has NOT regenerated a corresponding plist file. So as I warned, my knowledge may be outdated or incomplete.

I have since found com.apple.podcasts.plist living at /Users/dteece/Library/Containers/com.apple.podcasts/Data/Library/Preferences and it was modified today when I was last in the Podcast app, so maybe macOS is now handling these differently than in the past.

Hopefully Chas or someone with more extensive knowledge will add their thoughts.
