printing directly from ipad

I have a new ipad and a new printer. I have been told to print directly from the ipad to the new printer. I have been told to set it up. There is no computer where I would normally connect a printer. I believe there is wifi.

With just a new ipad and a new printer...what do I need to do to get the ipad set up with the printer?

1. Use the instructions that came with the printer to connect it to your existing Wi-Fi network. If you've already done this, on to step 2.

2. Download the recommended app from the printer maker from the App Store and install it on your iPad. Launch the app and follow any instructions.

3. If the printer and the iOS device are on the same Wi-Fi network, you should have the option to "share" a printable document or image to your printer as one of the sharing options. The "Share" icon looks like a box with an arrow pointing upwards, as seen here:
