Problems with iMac using 10.14.6

Something happened … can't Send in Mail.
Download is fine.
Using Shaw POP Account
iPad and iPhone are using the account - no problems.
Have been on the Chat with both Shaw and Apple.
Latest: Apple says to Export (to hard drive) all mail boxes, delete the POP account and then open a new POP account - for which I will need "the" Password.
Of course, not having a record of passwords and with everything being "automatic", I haven't the faintest idea of what the password is.
I'm very afraid of losing all my Mail information (various boxes) and wish not to jump too fast.
In earlier days, one could access the Ports of the Mail account but that seems to have become hidden.
Apple online help appears to have no relation to this OS; how very frustrating.
NOW -
Printing no longer works. Can't print on either printer.
Thoughts, anyone? Do I have a virus/bug???
Thanks,
Dick

Wow... sounded familiar. Got nothing from Shaw. My iPhone/iPad are getting and sending mail from my addresses (2 Shaw, iCloud and Gmail). My desktop iMad downloads them and can't send anything. Very frustrating. It just started this morning. I'm thinking that I should erase my email accounts in Mail and start again? Weird that the portables are fine. I'm using IMAP which helps but if my iMac (with all my myriad mail sub folders) gets the mail first, then anything put into a subfolder is not available to my portables, which is frustrating. And I can't figure out how to remedy it... but then would I want about 50 sub folders on my iPhone??? I just shut off Mail when I'm not at home.
Before I jump into deleting the accounts in mail, I'm running (damn, I hate this old age) the apple back up thingy.

I've replied privately to Dick, but some general advice about Shaw and Telus email:

1. STOP using Shaw and Telus emails as your primary emails! Move to iCloud, Outlook, Gmail (if you must) or something RELIABLE. Shaw and Telus email is farmed out and they don't really care much about it. I would be surprised if they're still offering email service at all in a few years.

2. If you are checking your email on more than one device, DROP your POP account and switch it to IMAP (the big providers I mentioned above ONLY offer IMAP, that should be telling you something).

3. Everyone should have at least two email accounts: a "private" one that is rarely given out beyond friends/family, and a "public" one for use with websites, newsletters, etc.

4. If you need your foldered email on all your devices, you need cloud syncing using iCloud, Gmail, OneDrive, or something like that. Pick some categories of emails that DON'T need to be on all devices all the time, and create those folders "on my Mac" (like old email you want to archive, or unessential emails) -- the rest should be on the server.
