Has anyone else noticed strange screen / energy saver behaviour since upgrading to 26.6.2? (Of course, hopefully this will resolve itself when 27 comes out probably on Wednesday.)
I have an Asus monitor attached to my Mac Mini via USB-C. I have a screen saver kick in after 10 minutes of inactivity. That seems to be working normally.
In the Lock Screen settings I have "Require password after screen saver begins..." set for 15 minutes. That seems to be working normally and when that happens I can still use Touch ID to meet the password requirement.
Also in Lock Screen settings I have "Turn Display off... ...when inactive set for 20 minutes. Here is where it goes wrong. Normally even after this kicks in, I can still get back in using Touch ID.
But recently this has changed. If I walk away from the computer, at 10 minutes the screen saver kicks in as it should. But about 16 minutes later the screen comes back on. Instead of being where I left it, I am back at the login screen asking me for my password and Touch ID does not work to get back in. (Almost like it restarted, but it didn't if I check the "uptime since last restart".) If I just ignore this and let it sit, at 20 minutes from the beginning the DISPLAY shuts down as it should.
If I do try and log in again, once I have manually put in my password, it takes forever for the menu bar to appear, my Mail app to settle down showing my full inbox etc. But then, from that point on, Touch ID works for other actions, (like logging into the VMUG forums, going to my bank etc.
So I am curious what is going on at the 16 minute mark to mess up the normal operation. Any ideas?
