Over the last several years friends have been emailing around group visits to ‘the cabin’. I’d like to move these communications and pictures to some mutual platform where everyone could access the conversations, but I could still control who posts. Initially I saw it like a blog, where I’d do most of the posting and keep everyone up to date on cabin happenings. Then I wondered how to ensure that anyone addressed in a given message would receive it (for example, if someone asks, ‘can someone give me a ride up on Tuesday’, etc.). I’d like members to be able to post photos and videos. Some of those involved are inveterate non-Facebookers. I’m just not sure at all how to proceed. Up until now, these communications have mostly been emails with various cc’ing. I wouldn’t want to try to stop people’s emailing each other, but I would value the record of various visits ( an online visitors ‘guest book’) while providing a mutually accessible space to post the years events, fishing trips, bear visits, wood-chopping bees, etc. Examples of similar projects would be helpful to get me going, and now I think of it, perhaps there are courses one can take to get it rolling?
