unable to connect to network?

Hi Everyone: Well the kid did something to the iPad now. He just cannot stop pushing buttons, he gets into settings and most of the time it is something that he just undoes himself but this time I think it's more than he can remember. iPad is a 128GB ME392C/A running 10.3.3. Up until last night it was doing fine, then he must have changed something and it won't connect to the network now. In settings the L column wifi says off and the other on the right is off (white) When I turn it on button goes green, menu comes up with network/other and Ask to join, both green, left column WiFi is still not connected. So I choose other network, menu comes up but there are no choices anymore. Says enter network info, but it's been so long I don't remember where to get it or how!! Just so you know the other devices are still working and the network info comes up normally, can I find the info on one of the others and fill it in again? Next is there a way to lock all the settings on these things to avoid this again cause it will happen. Thanks Donna

1. Open Settings
2. Touch"Wi-Fi"
3. Check to see if Wi-Fi is turned on. If not, turn it on.
4. If that doesn't fix the issue, locate the name of your network on the list.
5. Touch the "i" in a circle next to the network name.
6. Touch "Forget This Network"
7. Touch "Wi-Fi" to get back to the main Wi-Fi page.
8. Touch the name of your network.
9. Put in the password.

That should fix it. Sadly there is no way to prevent the kid from doing this again short of threats of punishment and/or no unsupervised use.

To add to what Chas said,

10. Put a password on the iPad itself to keep the kid out, or...
11. Ship the kid off to boarding school. :)

So I followed those instructions, but mine is not following along. I get settings -WiFi-not connected, then when i touch wifi it still says not connected on the left column but the wifi button on the right is green as if on. the choose a network menu comes up with other and ask to join, but touching either brings up nothing to choose from but another menu box saying enter network info. I've entered everything I can think of but keep getting "could not find the network" message. I think I like #11 the best!!! Anyone interested, he's cute but a handful!! lol !!

Nope nothing shows up at all. To make it even more strange the kids iPod won't connect either, noticed that after my initial post. Both the ipod and ipad are in his name. All the other devices are working as normal and networks show up, smooth sailing, not a glitch on those, they are under our accts. I don't know it's a wierd one.

First thing to try is to take the affected devices somewhere with a public Wi-Fi network -- the library, a coffeeshop. Can those devices connect to other networks?

Interestingly enough My I pad has started doing the same thing and will say it can not find the Network which is provided by telus, the iphone sitting next to it in airplane mode has no problems finding the same network, and if I create a hotspot using the phone the ipad finds that and works. I am wondering if this is something to do with telus dual band setup and the I pad needs to be on a different band? Tried the 9 step process from Chas and still had the problem. The network connection error message on the Ipad talks about turning off the private address function and that worked but I get a warning about privacy. Is this a good thing to have the private address function turned off?

This is the clue I've been waiting for to figure out what's going on. Somebody (cough) turned on some level of Parental Controls, which clashes with Private Address (which is the default and more secure option for Wi-Fi networks. A good look around Parental Controls (or just turning off any level of Parental Controls entirely) should fix the issue. If you need to have Parental Controls on for the benefit of the kid, you'll need to scour that section to see which areas might be changed from the way you had it set up.
