Upgrade iOS 8.4.1 to 9.2.1 iPhone/Old iMac OSX 10.8.5

Upgrading iOS on iPhone 6/iPad 3 from 8.4.1 to 9.2.1 - old iMac 4GB667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

I cannot upgrade my iMac anymore 10.8.5 - waiting to purchase a new iPad Pro with OSX capability. I know may have to wait a while tho.

If I upgrade the iPhone and iPad - will the Contacts/Notes etc. etc. still be available through my old iMac using Mountain Lion?

Leaving for NZ on Sunday and hoping to upgrade before we leave, IF IT IS POSSIBLE. Any info gratefully accepted. G

I guess my feeling is that you shouldn't attempt such an upgrade with so many questions just before a major trip. You don't leave yourself much time to sort out issues and learn changes.

I envy your trip to NZ - our favourite destination.

I would be good to have the specs of that Mac -- I am a bit skeptical of the claim that it cannot go beyond 10.8.5, as I can't immediately recall any Mac models that have this limitation (if you meant 10.7.5, Lion, that's a different story).

Broadly speaking, if your Mac can run the latest iTunes then you will be fine for compatibility to your upgraded iOS equipment. And, as you probably know, if you are taking those iOS devices with you to NZ, get the iPhone unlocked if you intend to use it down there.
