So I thought I would put some photos on a memory stick to share with my dad in the states (putting this in his tv)
I was surprised when I looked at my windows computer to see that many photos (most) are not readable saying they are iOS.heic.
I tried the app to change over them over.(copy trans fir windows codex) Do I have to do one photo at a time or can I say all photos with this. Please suggest link.

also on my iPhone 11pro under photos, would u suggest keeping the setting to optimize phone storage? I thought there was another tab saying how the photos are formatted. Appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

Answering in reverse order: IF you are going to be sharing photos with Windows users, it might be worth changing your iphone/iPad’s setting in Settings -> Camera -> Formats to “most compatible” (aka JPEG), rather than “high effieciency” (heic) for another year or two until more PCs get on board. Be aware that this will mean photos take up more space.

if you go under Settings -> Photos, and scroll all the way down, you’ll see a section called “Transfer to Mac or PC,” and you want the option called “Automatic,” which should do the conversion from HEIC to JPG automatically when moving photos to Windows (or Mac).

To convert HEIC pictures that are already on Windows, you can use the Microsoft Store to install a free app called “HEIC to JPG,” and you can use that to batch-convert.
