A few days ago I cleaned Marn's computer ready to sell it. At that time I changed the password .
I cannot remember the word and the slip of paper I put it on has been put in the garbage.
Yes I know..... However we have a legitimate excuse. We are moving and cleaning house took
priority over all and the reminder note got thrown way. I have to pack up tomorrow....
Marn's computer is still operative.... how can I access the password or set a new one. Thanks....

Gosh that’s dreadful luck. I usually put on gloves, turn off my sensibilities, and root through the garbage. My sympathy.

If you’re actually preparing to sell it, there should not be a password on it. You’ll want to set it back to factory. The way you do that is by rebooting, holding down the R key, and using disk utility to first erase the drive and then to reinstall a fresh copy of macOS.

When the buyer starts it up it will be as though it was a brand new Mac.
