Sonoma update

I got the Sonoma update notification yesterday (MacBook Air), and am wondering if it is a good idea to wait a few days before updating. I often hear there are bugs to work out when new software is introduced, and there may be fixes in the works already.

Same question for iOS 17 on iPhone and iPad.

Thanx

As to Sonoma, the general advice seems to wait until at least a couple of updates. However I haven't heard any general outcry that this time it was terrible. Being retired and nothing is critical to me, I went ahead and updated my Mac and my wife's MB Air and both seem to be working just fine for what we do.

As for iOS, there have already been a few minor updated (now at 17.0.2) and again, I have my own iPhone and my wife's on it without noting any real issues, other than Live Voicemail (a new feature) not playing nicely with Koodo's voicemail (which I have described elsewhere.)

Thanks Dave. Just did iPad and iPhone for my husband and I this morning and all went well. Will wait a bit on Sonoma.

One caution about Sonoma... I just noticed tonight that a lot of items I had in the Safari Reading List are now missing. Only a few remain. I haven't had time to investigate that issue yet.

I took a leap of faith and downloaded Sonoma late yesterday. Everything seems to have gone without a hitch. I was anxious about one particular software I use but it worked perfectly. Whew.

And I have to "walk back" the comment I made in my last post about the reading list going missing. It turns out I somehow ended up with the "Unread" heading selected. Once I clicked on "All" they were all there.

So I am glad it Sonoma seems to be working well for you too.

I think there have been a couple of minor bugs in Sonoma, but for the most part it seems to have gone out pretty smoothly so far. The moving desktops are a pretty nifty feature (as with all things Apple, so tastefully done and not "too much"). Make sure to both BACK UP your system using Time Machine before upgrading, and once Sonoma is installed be sure to check the App Store for updates to your important applications.
