transfer VHS to Mac

This must have been covered before, but a search is not bringing it up. I would like to transfer some VHS tapes to my iMac to be edited (I hope) and filed safely. Can anyone recommend a workable and not too expensive option? Links to good methods would also be appreciated. I do still have a VHS machine.
