Uninstall TotalAV

I want to uninstall TotalAV from my iMac. I have tried to recoimmended method and it will not let me trash it.
Any help greatly appreciated. I phoned TotalAV and they said sometimes Mac users have this problem. Phone Apple they said. Richard

One suggestion might be CleanMyMac X which has a pretty good uninstaller.
