Password compromised

Informed this morning my password for my email address had been compromised and being used to send Spam. I will attach the email to this explaining what I now have to do after I have changed my password. Password is changed but I do not know how to go about updating antivirus and scanning my computer for viruses etc. Can anyone help me please.

They're assuming that you have a PC. Ignore the part about updating your antivirus and scannning for viruses – you don't have any*. What you really need, however, is a much stronger password.

*Feel free to download the free Mac version of Malwarebytes to check for malware, but your password issues are almost certainly unrelated to your machine, and resulted from someone guessing your password. The days of easy, memorable passwords are over.
