Cell plan - iPhone Xs

I use, at present an aging iPhone Xs. I have been a Telus mobility user for years but after reading Alan Perry's show notes item about a $40 plan with 'Public Mobile' I'm looking carefully at switching. Does anyone have direct experience using an iPhone with Public Mobile? After a bit of web searching it seems that most of their 'tech help' is through an online user community...Any feedback most welcome...

All the ”budget” carriers are like that: primarily online help and billing etc only — Chattr, Public Mobile, Lucky, etc (all owned by Telus). That’s why they’re cheap.

The cheapest service around is the entity formerly known as Shaw Mobile, but a) you have to be a Shaw internet customer and b) I’m not sure they are accepting any new signups now.

It would be worth your while to have a chat with Freedom Mobile and with a genuine Rogers Store (not a kiosk mall reseller), tell them your story and see what they are willing to offer. Before being on Shaw I was with Freedom Mobile and had a good experience (and lots of data, which is important to me). Rogers just lowered the cost of some of their plans (as noted in this week’s Show Notes) so perhaps they can offer something competitive, particularly if you’re coming from Telus.
