Customize Toolbar

Can't customize my Finder Toolbar because 'Toolbar' and 'Customize Toolbar' are both greyed out.

Do you have a Finder window open? You need to open a Finder window in order to Customize the toolbar.

Thanks, I solved it. I found the desktop was selected and not a folder. Also found out I could open Finder from the Dock and customize toolbar from there.

I assumed that because it showed Finder next to the Apple icon in the menu bar that I could access if from there, but not so.
