firefox being stupid!!

I started using Firefox and on one occasion I opened Google Maps and for some reason it open only to a partial screen as per the attached image. Since then... about 3 weeks ago....everytime I open Maps this damn window come up in the form of a split screen.
If there is a site open and I choose maps.... I get as per the illustration herewith. (Map and VMug site)
If I open a new window and go to Google Maps I still get the split screen but the right side is blank....

What gives.

Have you tried clicking the little "x" at the top, right of the map window to dismiss that window?

Yes. It is firefox that is stupid.... big smile big smile... just kidding...did you see my body language.... (<:
Clicking the X, gets rid of that section or part of the window..... however .....
Next time I go to the Maps or open Maps with another site already opened I get the spit window.

I don't use Firefox often enough to have run into this issue, but it sounds like some sort of setting that has been changed in Firefox to allow for "split view." I'll take a look inside the browser shortly and report back if I can duplicate the problem.
