firefox crashreporter keeps popping up

I have an os X el capitan. version 10.11.6
I had a spinning beach ball and had to shut down my mac. When I restarted it...firefox will not come on...instead the crash reporter keeps coming up. It does not matter how you answer it...quit or restart firefox...the crash reporter keeps coming up and I cannot open up firefox. How do I fix this?

In addition to suggesting to the latest operating system version you can, until that happens you should probably completely remove Firefox and reinstall it. You will lose your bookmarks unless you preserve that file, but otherwise I'd suggest using AppTrap (free, and available here: http://onnati.net/apptrap/ to assist in completely removing all prefs and related files from the Firefox install.

If that all sounds like a lot of work, switch to Safari.
