iMac El Capitan Pages upgrade. 5.61 wanted but prompted to upgrade to 6.0.5

I upgraded from Mountain Lion to El Capitan and cannot upgrade higher on my iMac. My iPad 3 has iOS9.3.5, can’t go higher and my iPhone 6+ has iOS3.0.5.

Using Pages version 2.6.2 on iPad3, all recent and older documents created, are synced on all three devices, iMac, iPad3 & iPhone+.

However, I cannot open the documents on the iMac. The version of Pages in the iMac is ’09 4.3. Prompted to upgrade to Pages 6.05 when I try to open latest documents.

I can open a lot of my old documents (not all unfortunately) created in older Pages versions, and I am really concerned that if I upgrade all the way from '09 4.3 to Pages 6.05 I will lose everything, and I just can’t afford to do that.

Reviews for Pages 5.6.1 are excellent but NOT for Pages 6.05.

I have tried to find out online if I can purchase the 5.6.1 version to download with El Capitan, but without any luck.

Is there a way that you Guru’s know of, where I can upgrade only to the 5.6.1 version?

Perhaps even that upgrade will make a lot of the older documents unusable also.

Thanks in advance. G

The upgrade will not overwrite your old version of Pages, but this is yet another good reminder that not keeping your software incrementally upgraded can cause a lot of issues.

Also, I'm pretty sure your iPhone 6+ isn't running iOS 3. :)
