iphoto 11 9.4.3 crashes

Hi All: For the last several months I think, everytime I try to access the info on a pic the whole program crashes. I finally got brave and googled it and got to the apple forum. There was quite a few others with the same problem, and there was some instructions on what to do to fix it ,sort of. It involved deleting 2 google files from the resourse file in iPhoto. I did it and it seems to have fixed that problem but now it says I'm not connected to the internet so places doesn't work, but that's no big deal to me right now. It seems to be back in order except for that, but wondering if there is something else I should look for, or something else that might be affected by the deletion of these two items. Still in the trash so can be retrieved I imagine. Thanks Donna

Regrettably, you never upgraded to iPhoto 9.6.1, which means your version is obsolete. There isn't any permanent fix for it, and it will continue to malfunction increasingly over time. Your best option, since 9.6.1 is no longer available, is to upgrade to El Capitan if possible, and use Photos rather than iPhoto.

well that will teach me to update more wont it? I thought I would get a update message actually so never even thought of it, my fault. So that kind of helps with the decision to buy a new iMac anyway! Looking at the 21.5 Retina, and we want to get the extra memory as Chas suggests and maybe the 1TB Fusion drive? Not heavy users by any stretch but hoping it will last as long as the current one has (2007) think we are going to clean it up and pass it on to the kids. Would it work to transfer the old to the new then wipe the old and then carry on with Mtn Lion for the kids? Or better to still put El Capitan on it? Kids use Facebook, Utube, games but not the big ones. Thanks Chas

Your plan sounds good but if that 2007 can run El Capitan, upgrade it to that for the kids.
