Nikon View NX-i crashes

Is anyone on the list using the free Nikon View NX-i app? If so, is anyone else finding that it crashes regularly, or is it just me? I'm using it on a 2013 iMac in High Sierra. It sometimes even crashes in the background when I am using another app. It is an awful replacement for View NX-2 but I keep trying it because it does some things well. I often have several photo apps open at once, and am processing 30 mb RAW files mostly. Maybe an overload? I am considering adding more RAM (presently 8 GB) to see if that helps.

I'm not using it, but of course check to see if there's been an update. I don't know if more RAM will actually fix te problem, but if you are working with RAW files of that size more RAM should be considered a top priority anyway -- I would just max it out (which I think is 16GB?) on that machine, you'll definitely see a difference in speed. The current version of the software is 1.2.9. The company has a history of being slow to address problems with its Mac software, so you might investigate other RAW image solutions as well. I like Luminar 2018, but a good (and free) utility is Raw Therapee.

Thanks Charles - the latest version is 1.2.12 and I have that installed. I do use other software (ACDSee for Mac, Affinity Photo and Aperture mostly) and they are good for RAW processing (for both my Nikon and Canon cameras) but Nikon View (at least the earlier NX2) was the best for browsing Nikon images without having to shunt them into some unwanted photo library, and View NX-i still has the capacity to zoom images to check sharpness (my other preferred browser, ACDSee, loses sharpness when you zoom, which defeats the purpose of zooming to check sharpness - an issue which has been reported in the ACDSee forum but seems to have been ignored by ACDSee developers). But then NX-i crashes unexpectedly - and regularly, and frustratingly. I think I'll look into more RAM and report back if it makes a difference. Thanks for input.
