sleep - wake - sleep - wake

Two different iMacs, both with 10.13.4

Put iMac to sleep and it wakes up a couple of seconds later. This can happen up to 4 or 5 times in a row. Has nothing to do with my Energy Saver settings. All I can find by Googling is suggestions to type in some command in Terminal, which I am not prepared to do.

It never did this before upgrading to High Sierra a few month ago.

Make sure all applications are quit (not just closed) before sleeping, see if that makes a difference.

p.s. Using Safari, on a couple of occasions, I get Not Secure - vmug.bc.ca/discussions/ showing in the URL window, with "Not Secure -" showing in red.

Anyone else get that?

That sounds like some "security" software you've installed at work -- it's telling you that VMUG's site does not use https: rather than http:, and that's perfectly normal. If you've installed any anti-malware or scammy "cleanup" software, check its settings to turn that off -- as most websites don't use https:, so you'll be getting that message a lot.

I occasionally find the computer will wake right back up after putting it to sleep, but it never takes more than a second time for it to "take." You might try running some maintenance software (we recommend OnyX). What causes the issue, we believe, is that the Mac is still busy doing some housekeeping that it needs to finish before it can safely sleep. Keeping the Mac system running smoothly can help reduce the amount of time the Mac needs to finish its tasks. Another possible tip is to wait a few seconds between having closed all apps and asking the machine to sleep.
