I presently have a mid 2010 15" MacBook Pro & in the market for a 2015 15" MacBook Pro & my question is how much storage I need? To upgrade from 256 GB to 512 GB is approx. $240.00. I presently use my MBP for emails, photos, editing & projects, iTunes & surfing the internet. On my existing 320GB SATA Disk there is 228.18 GB available of 318.84 GB. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

So it sounds like you have used less than 100 GB on your 2010 laptop. That would suggest the 256 GB option would be enough for you if your habits don't change. But if you suddenly start taking more photos or videos that choice will really bite you.

Another thing to consider is that you are thinking of going from a 2010 laptop to a 2015 model So you keep your machines about 5 years.

That $240 for the bigger (512 GB) SSD option will cost you $48 a year. A couple of meals out at a cheap restaurant. It may be worth it to spend that for "future proofing".
