calendar synch issue

Recently i received a calendar invitation to an event. It shows up on my iPhone and iPad, but not on my Macbook Pro. I 'accepted' the event invitation, but it still wouldn't show up. ( this is sent from someone in the Windows world) Then I went to my mac calendar and started to manually type in the date, and the mac then recognized the event somehow but seemed to want to SEND an invitation to all the other invitees. At the bottom there was a box that said "make visible' or something. I clicked that on, but it still wanted to send an event invitation, so I cancelled. I'm sorry if this sounds fuzzy, it is weird. I have input a test event into the mac, it shows up on the iPad and iPhone. it works if I put an appointment into the phone - it goes onto the other devices... insert puzzled smiley here...thanks for any ideas...

Usually these invitations are sent via email, so check your email on your Mac, find the one with the invitation, and try accepting it on your Mac. Check to make sure that you have all your calendars on your Mac checked to be visible, and of course make sure your iCloud preferences have your Mac's Calendar set to sync with iCloud.
