Final Cut Pro.

This morning I found that I could not open Final Cut Pro. version 6.0.6
iMac 2.8 GHz Intel core i5 El Capitan 0S X 10.11.3

A window popped up asking or the serial number.
I searched through my cd's and the only disc I have is Version 4
I have owned this app since 2007 and the last time I used it was in 2014 to
modified an 1 hour movie. Since that time I had installed El Capitan

Does anyone know if this El Capitan would cause cause the app to loose or nullify the serial number?

I look at my Apple account and it only goes back to 2009.... so found another re Final Cut Pro.

Any suggestion to remedy this issue.

Thanks
Graham

I can't be 100 percent sure, but I'd bet the cost of a few lattes that the problem is that your FCP version is now too old to run under El Capitan. You mention it is version six ... where version 10 has been out for some years now, so ... yeah.

Your best option, of course, would be to buy the latest version. The bad news: there is no "upgrade price." The good news: the cost of FCP has come down from $1,000 back when you bought it to $300 now (these prices are USD). It's also vastly improved. Be sure to check the system requirements to be sure your system is up to speed for it, as it's a powerful program that needs a decent graphics card (any modern iMac or MacBook Pro should be able to handle it, but as always for pro programs lots of RAM and fast storage is key to the best experience).

By chance I found the password.... Doing a search with the word Key for another document the password for FCP showed up when I investigated what was in a folder marked Key.... Please don't ask how or why I would use that word on a folder for a item such as password....
One of life's mystery.

Did it work? I'd be mpressed if FCP 6 was still running on El Capitan, though I guess if iWeb still does ... :)
