Mail address "already exists" ?

MBP 13". El Capitan. I use 2 email addresses. One of the addresses does not show in accounts. When I try to add it, the system
states in red: "this address already exists". Does anybody know where it is hidden?

Have you looked at your address book? I don't use Mail, so can't be sure how it works, but I know that it links with the address book in some instances.

Thanks Dave. I just used your information and tried to see what my name was entered in all devices. (Quite a chore) iMac, 3 laptops, iPod touch, iPad, iPhone 5, iPhone 4 ll doing something in our house. So I got the contacts list synced by hand. It is not solved yet, but I feel you have led me on a to be fruitful path. Dick Sparks.

I finally got this matter fixed. But to do so I had to take it to an expert ($90). They did fix it for me but stated it was a Shaw Mail problem with the configurations. I am going to contact Shaw and plead for a refund. Dick Sparks
