MBAir overheating running and stopping videos etc

New problem in last two days. My MBA, while running videos will stop the videos (or podcasts). I repeatedly hit play and it starts again.
I then noticed the MBA is very hot! No fan running. Checked battery in Settings, - says it's normal. Max Cap 86% (New April/22).
Why is it doing this? What should I check next?
Happy New Year!!

Update. It's two hours after my first post. I am trying different things. have the MBA plugged in. Not heating but videos still stopping so I don't think the problem is battery related. I have YT video playing, stood up to go to another room and it immediately stopped playing. Sat back down and restarted. Each time I stand up the video stops!! This is so puzzling. Once I even got to the other room but the video stopped. Now it is slow to load and when it does start there is no sound. After a few attempts it restarts and the sound works. How will Teri get a cup of coffee??!!

Hi Teri
Well this is quite a story so far. First thing that comes to mind is the stopping and starting of Video while your "not moving away "from the MPA. So you mentioned PodCasts and YouTube as sources you're having difficulty with. I am assuming you're not using a Cat 5 or 6 cable directly connected to your MPA so using your WiFi for Internet Connection. This suggests to me signal strength of your WiFi connection and wondering what level of Internet connection you're doing this with. Who is your Provider and what level of Internet are you subscribed to receive? Perhaps this information would be a good place to start understanding what is going on.

First, let's remember that MacBook Airs don't have fans. At all.

So, if you're going to run videos for a prolonged period of time, you might want to consider purchasing a "pad" or "stand" for it that does have fans/can help cool it.

Second, I think Colin's may be on to something there. Videos are quite speed-and-resource dependent. Go to fast.com and check your internet speed. Anything over 50mbps should be able to handle YouTube.

You're right the problem isn't battery related, though.

To post the second post I had to close browser and open again as it would not post after many attempts. Last time this happened it lost part of my post. This time I was on it and copied my post. Sure enough - only part of it was there. So here is the second part of the second post:

Hi Colin,
Sure is a mystery to me. It happened only once today. Although I was out most of the day so not sure if problem was as bad as the day before. So strange. Your suggestion re the WiFi makes the most sense I think. And perhaps it weakens a certain times. I'm with Rogers (rolled over from Shaw). I joined them last March and have had no problem until now. I'm going to phone Rogers on Monday because I just noticed I have a strange charge from them on my Visa. It will be a good time for them to check my connection. Anyway, was was added frustration was not being able to post on here. So, I'm a bit nervous to his the Post reply button. Cheers, Teri

Hi Chas. Thanks. I'll do that right now. Most likely that is the prob but it was weird that my 'aura' kept shutting it off. And I wasn't in-between the modem and the MB ever. Just can live without me being close!

Hurrah! It posted after several attempts. But this time I left the site to go to fast.com and came back and it posted. My speed is 570mbps. But it's 8 pm ish. Less busy time? Again thanks so much for your help.
I sent you two emails when I couldn't post.
